GROWTH  OF THE TRUST :

From the humble beginning, the Trust has now grown to its present size with adequate capital fund and is famous for its philanthropic activities all over India and across the globe through its 7200 worshipping centres (micro-units) placed in countries such as Srilanka, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, UK, France, Switzerland, USA, Canada, and Australia.

The people of the 750 villages surrounding Melmaruvathur have benefitted most by the activities of the Trust in Melmaruvathur and it has immensely contributed in the improvement of their standard of living.

Alternatively, the Trust’s educational institutions are also established in Kalavai, a Village in Vellore District which is 45 miles from Melmaruvathur. The local population, especially, the youth and women in the region have benefitted from Quality education and decent employment in the institutions. The institutions have also opened new opportunities for career prospects and economic growth in that region.

MICRO-UNITS OF THE TRUST :

Micro-units in different areas are a success formula for the Trust. The micro-units mirror the activities of the Trust in their respective areas so that their immediate community benefits.

The welfare schemes carried at Melmaruvathur, surrounding villages and in micro-units at district, state, national and international levels promote life and economic independence.

The initiative of community service as the main focus of ACMEC Trust has been adopted by the 7200 micro units of the Trust which are found in high density in the Southern Indian states apart from specific locations of central and north India. These micro-units that identify themselves as worshipping and social service centers also mark their global presence in Srilanka, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, UK, France, Switzerland, USA, Canada, and Australia. These units have been performing commendable social service in their respective regions inspired by the Trust’s activities in Melmaruvathur.

To the areas/countries not yet transferred, there is a potential chance for transferability by means of the already benefitted volunteers and people to take this initiative as a seed along with them as a word-of-mouth sharing and sowing the initiative in other regions both nationally and internationally to grow such micro-units in every nook and corner of the world. This will enhance the ‘community service’ that brings equitable and inclusive services to all.

The future plan of the Founder President His Holiness Bangaru Adigalar is establishing micro-units in every nook and corner of the world and orient people to do ‘community service’ and realize ‘service to humanity’ is the highest form of service that brings real happiness and purpose to human life.

SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES:

ACMEC trust was formed with the core objective of providing equitable services to people deprived of income, employment, health, and a good living environment. Ever since the inception of the Trust, it has been endowing welfare activities throughout the year with the aid of 7200 micro-units placed nationally and internationally. Educational institutions were started from 1983 by ACMEC Trust from PrePrimary school, to higher education colleges. These institutions apart from providing education, functioned on by authentic data to reach out to the poor to give sponsored education. The Free Hospital was established in 1986 with 3 doctors and now the Hospital has flourished into a 1000 bedded multispecialty Hospital with 166 doctors extending its services to the 750 villages. The core members of the trust meet periodically to determine the priorities on a need basis.

Apart from health care and education, the trust has actively involved itself in community welfare projects like:

  1. Installation of water recycling plant at Melmaruvathur which recycles 60 Lakh Liters per day.
  2. Strengthening of river bunds/channelization of rain water into lakes and nearby rivers thus substantially improving the water table in the area.

    3. Planting of saplings in Melmaruvathur and surrounding villages

  1. Providing vocational training to differently-abled persons and offer assistance in selling their products.
  2. Distribution of professional implements (like tailoring machine, iron box, computers) and assistance to poor people to become entrepreneurs

One of the key underlying themes of all activities is women empowerment. Most of the Trust’s institutions are headed by women leaders. Also most of the employees across the Trust’s institutions are women. Several existing stigma related to women within India have been systematically overcome thus bringing in a cultural revolution.

The trust employs around 3000 people in its operations and most of them hail from Melmaruvathur and its surrounding villages and thus the Trust also gives employment opportunities to them.

Some of the key initiatives of the Trust are:

  • Distribution of professional implements to people below poverty line
  • Establishment of state-of-the-art super specialty hospital with 1000 bed facility offering free medical treatment to the poor people
  • Free health awareness and treatment camps to be conductedin surrounding villages.
  • Establishment of premier educational institutions – from Kindergarten school to Medical college.
  • Contribution to infrastructure facilities and amenities of Melmaruvathur and surrounding villages
  • Establishment of sewage treatment plants to treat waste water from hospital, institutions and residential units.
  • Improve water resources.
  • Vocational training for differently-abled children of the surrounding villages through Annai Illam
  • Solar power plants across the Trust’s institutions
  • Women Empowerment through affordable and accessible education, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship support and so on.

The Trust is quite visionary in that the first-ever sewage treatment plant in the region has been established along with initial set of institutions even before there was a necessity for one.

A remarkable accomplishment is the creation of Melmaruvathur lake as a water reservoir. Inspite of resistance from local villagers in the initial years,  the Trust, through its persistent efforts has developed a small water body into a huge reservoir that’s maintained throughout the year. The migratory birds that used to visit Vedantangal – a world-famous bird sanctuary around 15km from here, now visit Melmaruvathur lake instead.

Strength of the Organization

The key strength of the organization is the Founder President’s vision to bring about a positive change in the society through community service and care for the under-privileged.

Another key aspect is that millions of volunteers provide immense physical, financial and intellectual contribution to the activities performed by the Trust and its micro-units worldwide.

The Trust receives its funds with contributions from kind-hearted people belonging to its worldwide units which have similar objectives.  The Trust has received voluntary contribution from millions of people both in India and abroad. That the organization is trusted by millions of people and the voluntary contributions received by the Trust increasing every year is a testimony to people’s continuous faith in ACMEC Trust.

Excellent relationship with various levels of Government ensures the smooth functioning of the Trust to achieve its various objectives.
